The Story Begins...
Welcome USNA Class of 1964!
My name is Patrick Finnegan and I am extremely proud to be the Creative Designer and Director of the Integritas Film Project. Because of your generous donations, this worthy project, designed to inspire honorable choice in the Brigade of Midshipmen, has been made possible.
In the pages of this website you will have a chance to view the full version of the first seven Integritas branding spots. There are four additional dramatic and powerful spots which we have filmed and are awaiting the funds to edit, color, and finalize. There are additional concepts waiting for filming and production when the resources are available to provide further visual products to help Midshipmen make honorable choices in living and leadership.
This web site will play a key role in the Naval Academy’s strategy to introduce the Brigade of Midshipmen to the Integritas Project. This will be a "Director's Website" where I can talk about various aspects of the project, from filming, to background interviews to reactions from those who were featured in the spots. Additionally, midshipmen will use the website to further explore the concepts introduced in the spots and reflect on the momentous consequences of their present and future ethical decisions.
I’ve labeled the Integritas spots to read like chapters in a book and highly recommended you view them in the order in which they appear under the Integritas Films links. The first three spots are designed specifically for Plebes to reflect back on their decision to attend the Academy, as well as remind upperclassmen of their original motivations for setting their course to become Navy or Marine Corps leaders. The next four spots—the gymnastics, boxing, crew and football spots—form the heart of the branding campaign where we introduce our unique Integritas Branding Slogan. If Nike's “Just Do It” is an exemplary slogan for competing in athletics, overcoming individual limitations and winning, when it comes to the exceptional and unremitting responsibilities thrust upon our naval leaders in war and peace, “Just Do It” is just not enough. Our nation demands more. We ask our leaders to:
Don't Just Do It,
Do It Right
Eventually, that slogan will truncate to just three simple, memorable words—“Do It Right”— which will not only appear in the messaging of every spot, but through the help of Academy staff, faculty, coaches and midshipmen leaders will become part of a campaign to embed the concept of right action in the hearts and minds of all our future officers.
Do It Right
We hope you enjoy this preview. Though much of the site is under construction, with most entries simply serving as placeholders for the rich and varied content to come, we hope you will get a sense of the power of what you have helped make possible.
If for any reason you are experiencing choppy playback of the Integritas Films because of slow internet connection speeds, try letting the video buffer before you view it. Buffering is a way of preloading the videos you watch so that fluctuations in your Internet connection don't cause choppy playback. When you play a video, a light gray bar will advance in front of the playhead, showing you how much of your video has been buffered. Your playback should be smooth as long as you're viewing your video within the light gray buffer region. The Integritas Films can be viewed on the following browsers: Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera, and Internet Explorer. Additionally, you can turn off high definition playback by toggling off the HD button at the bottom of the player. This will increase your playback speed on slower connections.
If you would like to help the USNA Class of 1964 meet its fund raising goals in support of the Integritas Project, you will find a link to the Naval Academy Foundation website located under the Integritas Films tab with the four films that are yet unfinished for lack of funding: It’s Personal, Preparation, Friendship and Freedom.
